There was a noteworthy increase in activity, particularly in primary market. A total of 2,869 cases of new home sales were recorded, reflecting a significant quarter-on-quarter increase of 54%. The secondary market recorded 6,954 transactions, indicating a quarter-on-quarter increase of 21%.<\/p>\n

In the late February 2024 Fiscal Budget, the government made a significant announcement regarding the removal of all property cooling measures implemented since 2010, in order to revive the flailing housing market. Furthermore, the Hong Kong Monetary Authority relaxed the loan rules for homebuyers, i.e. the suspension of stress tests. These policy adjustments have resulted in the creation of the most favorable market conditions witnessed in the past 14 years.<\/p>\n

Despite the notable improvement in market sentiment during the period, Hong Kong residential market continued to face downward pressure on home prices and rental indices. The removal of property cooling measures did contribute to a slight rebound in sales activity, but the overall trend remained negative.
