
Housing market had a strong rebound in the first quarter this year, as sentiment recovered on expectations of slower interest rate increases and an improvement in economic outlook following the reopening of borders with Mainland China.
The number of residential property deals hitting a 3-quarter high to 14,023 in Q1, a climb of 67% from a quarter earlier. Of these, the sales of new homes soared 118% q-o-q to 2,805 while the secondary market saw 11,218 transactions, jumped 58% from Q4 last year.
Home prices rekindled from the gloomy picture as buyer’s confidence has come back after the government removed stringent Covid-19 restrictions. The home price index swiftly rose by 5.3% in the first quarter after a 15% plunge last year……
